SAP GUI for Windows
The SAP GUI for Windows provides access to an SAP application server and uses the DIAG protocol.
Only the SAP GUI for Windows supports the full functionality of SAP software.
It is optimized for minimal communication load in order to provide good response times over slow connections.
The different versions are essentially made to support the underlying operating systems and are coupled to the support duration of the used development environment (Visual Studio).
The latest SAP GUI versions are compatible with all supported SAP products (also customer-specific and extended maintenance back to R / 3 3.1i)
The SAP GUI for Windows has always been a 32-bit program, currently there is no SAP GUI version for 64-bit operating systems. You can use it within a 64-bit environment, but then you have to use a 32-bit version of Microsoft Office (e.g. Microsoft Office 2010 32-bit).
